Description

This is a house, likely dating back to the 16th century or earlier, with subsequent additions and alterations, and a 19th-century facade. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with red plain tiled roofs. A central brick chimney stack is prominent, featuring concertina shafts and a sunk panel inscribed with the date 1675. A further red brick chimney stack is attached to the left crosswing. The house follows an H-plan layout and extends over two storeys and into a cellar. It has a symmetrical window arrangement of 1:2:1, with 19th-century vertically sliding sash windows, some with three panes of glazing. Pentice boards and moulded brackets are positioned above the windows. Two of the ground floor windows are bayed, featuring hipped lead roofs. The left side of the building has an 18th or 19th century eight-panelled door, accompanied by reeded pilasters, a moulded frieze and a slanting canopy supported by heavy carved brackets. A second door, with four panels and two lights, a moulded surround, a slanting canopy, and brackets, is located to the right. The crosswing gables are adorned with plain bargeboards, moulded brackets, and pendants.
