Description
No. 15 St. James Street is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tiled roof. There are two chimney stacks: a red brick one on the left and an external painted brick one on the right. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range of 18th-century small paned vertically sliding sashes, except for the ground floor left, which has a 19th-century flat-headed bay with vertically sliding sashes and glazing bars. The central entrance consists of a two-panel, two-light door with a moulded surround, scroll brackets, a plain frieze, and a flat canopy. To the right of the house is a small single-storey outbuilding, now used as a shop, constructed of similar materials and featuring a hipped red tiled roof, along with a part-glazed door and a shop window to the right.
