Description

Saddlers is a house located on St. James Street in Castle Hedingham, dating from the 16th century or earlier. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring a red brick roof that is plain tiled, with a gabled crosswing on the left side. It has a large central red brick chimney stack and stands two storeys tall with attics. The front has a two-window range of small paned casements. On the ground floor to the right, there is a flat head oriel supported by two brackets, which includes glazing bars and transoms. The central door, accessed by two steps, has double vertical panels and a plain surround.
