Description
19 and 21 St James Street, known as The Vine, is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It has origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a red plain tiled roof that is hipped to the right. There is a single-storey outshot to the left and external red brick chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. The right corner of the building is rounded, and there are rear wings. The main structure is mainly two storeys high and has a two-window range of vertically sliding sashes, with three lights on the ground floor to the right. The central entrance has a recessed 20th-century half-glazed panelled door with a round-headed light above it, and there is a matching 20th-century door to the left outshot. The right return of the building features two ranges, with the centre displaying heavy timber studding and an exposed side girt.
