Description
Nos 59, 61, and 61A on High Street are 18th century dwellings and a shop, built in two phases with two ranges at the rear. The early 18th century section on the left is two storeys high, constructed of red and yellow local brick in a chequered pattern, topped with a steeply pitched slate roof. It features two flat-roofed dormers with horizontal sliding sash windows. The first floor has a range of three hung sash windows set in moulded architraves, with similar windows on the ground floor in flat arches, and a band running between the storeys. The later building on the right is also two storeys with attics, made of local brick and covered by a steeply pitched slate roof with a gabled dormer window. It has an end stack and a ridge stack, and hung sash windows with glazing bars at each floor level. The main doorway on the left has a moulded architrave and pediment, leading to a six-panelled door, while a later inserted door is located to the right of the original.
