Description

No. 84 High Street is a late 18th-century house. It is constructed of gault brick with a slate roof, featuring a parapet, parapet gable ends, and a band at eaves height. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building. The house has two storeys and attics, with three hipped dormers containing casements with glazing bars and moulded architraves. The ground floor features two hung sashes with glazing bars in cambered arches, flanking a bow oriel window with glazing bars and a dentilled cornice supported by a ball pendant to the corbel. The central doorcase has fluted pilasters, an entablature incorporating a decorated frieze, a frieze band, and a triangular pediment. The door itself is made of four fielded panels and two flush panels, with a semi-circular arched fanlight above, and panelled reveals. The interior contains moulded cornices and doors with raised and fielded panels. A staircase features square section balusters and an open string.
