Description
Robert Gatward is a house that has been converted into a shop, located on Thame High Street. It likely dates from the mid-17th century, with an 18th-century addition on the left and some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features lined render, which is probably over timber framing, and has an old plain-tile roof. It is two stories tall with an attic and has a three-window range.
The ground floor has an early 20th-century shop front, which includes a panelled door on the left and a glazed door in the center. The first floor has 12-pane unhorned sash windows with wood architrave surrounds, located in the center and on the right, while there is a 9-pane unhorned sash window with a wood architrave surround on the left. The building also has three gabled full dormers that contain 2-light casements. Although the interior has not been inspected, there is a late 19th-century enamelled advertising board on the left side of the first floor.
