Description
Sketchley is a house that has been converted into a shop, located on the south-west side of Thame Buttermarket. It dates back to the 17th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The building is rendered, likely over brick, and features an old plain-tile half-hipped gable roof with a rendered brick end stack.
The structure is three stories high and has a three-bay range facing the Buttermarket, with the main front oriented towards the north-west and facing the Town Hall. The ground floor has a late 19th-century projecting shop front, which includes a central glazed door flanked by plate-glass windows. On the first floor, there is an angled bay window topped with a hipped old plain-tile roof, featuring wood mullion and transom windows. The second floor has an unhorned tripartite sash window. The eaves are coved, and there is a three-light casement window on the gable end. The Buttermarket front displays irregular fenestration with 12-pane unhorned sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
