Description
No. 8 South Street is a shop that features a facade from around 1819, though it may have earlier origins. The building is constructed of red brick and has a red plain tiled roof. It has a shared red brick chimney stack with No. 10. The structure is two storeys high and has a three-window range with small paned vertically sliding sashes. On the ground floor, there is a carriageway to the right and a shop front to the left, along with a central door that has a round head. The shop windows on either side are flanked by end pilasters with capitals and moulded surrounds. Above the door, there is a wrought iron lamp bracket. A date, "1819 WB," is scratched into the brickwork to the right of the first-floor right window. This building is included for its group value.
