Description
No 10 Market Place is an early 19th-century building featuring a red brick facade, a slate roof, and wide eaves soffit. The structure stands three storeys high and has three windows. The upper storey has recessed sashes with glazing bars, while the first floor features two shallow canted oriel bays. The building boasts a well-preserved early 19th-century double shop front and a large panelled door on the west side, all beneath an entablature with a dentilled cornice and architrave. The shop front includes panelled pilasters with panelled plinths, although one plinth appears to have been removed. The shop windows still retain some glazing bars, and there is a later tiled plinth. Both the shop and side doors have plain fanlights. No 10 is part of a group that includes Nos 20 to 36 (even) and the barn at the rear of 32 to 34 (even), the Town Hall, and Nos 5 to 31 (odd) opposite.
