Description
Number 17, located on the south side of Market Place, is a building dated 1749, as indicated by a contemporary rainwater head. It features a red brick facade with silver grey panels between the windows. The building has a bracketed moulded wood cornice and an old tiled hipped roof. It stands three storeys high and has four windows, all of which are sash windows with flush frames. The second-floor windows retain their glazing bars. The ground floor has a modern shop front. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 31 (odd) and the Town Hall, as well as No 10 and Nos 20 to 36 (even), including the barn at the rear of Nos 32 to 34 (even) on the opposite side of the Market Place.
