Description
This is a pair of early 19th century cottages that were extended in the late 19th century. The cottages are timber-framed and have weatherboard cladding, covered by a roof of handmade red clay tiles. They are aligned approximately north-west to south-east, with a south-westerly aspect. A central chimney stack sits within the partition wall between the two cottages. Single-storey lean-to extensions, with corrugated iron roofing, are present at both ends of the building. A further lean-to extension, roofed with red clay Roman tiles, is situated at the south-east end. The cottages are two storeys high. On the ground floor, there are two plain boarded doors. There is one double-hung sash window with nine panes of glass, another with twelve panes of glass, both 19th century, and two glazed doors within the lean-to extensions. The first floor features two casement windows, one double-hung sash window with two upper lights and one lower light, and one horizontally sliding sash window with 24 panes of glass, all of 19th century design. The chimney stack is cement-rendered. The roof is hipped.
