Description

This is a group of three cottages located on Pump Hill in Loughton, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The cottages are timber-framed and have been clad with weatherboarding, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. They are aligned approximately north-east to south-west and face northwest. An axial chimney stack is situated in the party wall between numbers 22 and 24, while an external chimney stack is at the northeast end of number 20. A parallel range of buildings extends from the rear of numbers 20 and 22, also with a pitched roof. There are single-storey lean-to extensions at the southwest end of number 24, and at the rear of number 20. The ground floor has three plain boarded doors, and seven 20th-century casement windows. The first floor has five 20th-century casement windows.
