Description

A 17th-century house, later divided into two cottages, located in Woodbury Hollow, Loughton. The house is timber-framed and has been clad in weatherboarding, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It runs approximately north-south, with an eastern aspect, featuring an internal chimney stack at the south end and an external chimney stack at the north end. There are single-storey lean-to extensions to the north and west. The original house was a single storey with attics. It has two plain boarded doors and three casement windows dating to the 19th and 20th centuries, including one early 19th-century double-hung sash window of nine lights. Above, there is one small casement window, and two more are located within gabled dormers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The south chimney stack has grouped diagonal shafts, which have been reduced in height.
