Nos. 34 and 36 York Hill are a pair of cottages built in the early 19th century. They are timber-framed, covered with weatherboarding, and have a slate roof. The cottages are aligned approximately hli-SE and face northeast, featuring a central chimney stack in the party wall and lean-to extensions at the rear. They are two storeys tall.

No. 34 has a six-panel door set in a 20th-century timber porch, a double-hung sash window with 20 lights from the early 19th century on the ground floor, and a double-hung sash window with 4 lights from the late 19th century on the first floor. No. 36 has a 20th-century door and a double-hung sash window with 16 lights from the early 19th century on each floor.
