Description

This listing describes a pair of cottages located on Chapel Lane in Chigwell, built in the early 19th century and extended in the 20th century. The cottages are timber-framed and clad with weatherboards, featuring a roof of handmade red clay tiles. A central chimney stack rises between the two cottages. They are aligned approximately north-south, facing west. A parallel range of buildings to the rear was added in the 20th century and is roofed with interlocking concrete tiles. The cottages are two storeys high. The front has one half-glazed door, one plain boarded door, each with a shallow hood, and two 19th-century casement windows. The first floor has two 19th-century casement windows and one 20th-century casement window.
