Description

Hainault Hall is a house built in the late 18th century and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed from stock bricks in Flemish bond, with red brick and stone dressings, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the building is aligned approximately northeast-southwest, facing southeast, and features chimney stacks at each gable end. There is a rear wing at the northeast end with a parallel roof, a chimney stack, and a gable to the northeast, while the southwest side has a hip roof. A single-storey lean-to extension from the 19th century is located in the west angle. The house has two storeys, attics, and a basement.

On the ground floor, there is a central half-glazed door set within a stucco doorcase topped with a pediment. This is accessed by six splayed stone steps with wrought iron railings. The front features four double-hung sash windows, each with 12 lights, located under flat arches made of gauged red brick. The first floor has five similar windows, with a stone string course at sill level. There is an open pediment that projects full height, with moulded stone coping. Above the windows, there is a moulded stone string course and a parapet with stone coping. The mansard roof includes two double-hung sash windows with six lights in flat-roofed dormers. The overall design creates a symmetrical front elevation, although the plan is asymmetrical.
