Description

Clare Hall is a house built in the late 18th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. It is constructed of stock brick in Flemish bond and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has a double pile plan and features two chimney stacks on each side wall, facing approximately south. There is a small two-storey extension with a lean-to roof on the west end and a single-storey extension to the northwest, both from the 20th century.

The south elevation has a central half-glazed door set in a shallow doorcase with a dentilled pedimented hood. Flanking the door are two tripartite double-hung sash windows, each with 4-12-4 lights, featuring flat arches made of gauged red brick and red brick jambs. On the first floor, there are three double-hung sash windows with 16 lights, set in similar openings. The building has a parapet with stone coping, creating a symmetrical appearance.

On the north (garden) elevation, there is a central six-panel door, with the top panels glazed, and a simple doorcase with a shallow hood. This elevation also features two double-hung sash windows with 16 lights and segmental brick arches, along with one similar window at half-floor height above the door and two more on the first floor. Many of the windows contain panes of crown glass, some of which are original. Inside, there are original pine panelled dados and some reproduction panelling, along with original six-panel doors.
