Description
Forest House is a house built around 1800. It is constructed of stock bricks, and the roof is not visible behind a parapet. The building has a double pile design, with the entrance facing northwest and two chimney stacks on each side wall. There is a 19th-century two-storey extension to the northeast.
The entrance features a blocked central doorway at the top of six stone steps, leading to a porch supported by two columns and pilasters, which have simple foliate capitals and a dentilled cornice. The northwest elevation has four late 19th-century double-hung sash windows, each with four lights, set under flat arches of gauged brick in shallow recesses with round arches of gauged brick. On the first floor, there are five original double-hung sash windows with twelve lights, also under flat arches of gauged brick. The second floor has five late 19th-century double-hung sash windows with six lights. The parapet includes a stucco string course.
On the southeast garden elevation, the ground floor has five full storey height double-hung sash windows with twelve lights. The first floor features five French windows that open onto two-storey cast iron balconies; the ground floor balconies have a lattice design, while the first floor balconies display a Greek key design and a tented canopy. Some damage is noted on the scalloped edge, and the floors have been reinforced with steel girders. Inside, there is some pine panelling, and a complete set of folding internal shutters is present on the ground and first floors.
