Description
The Wobbin is a pair of cottages that have been combined, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, with some sections tile-hung, and it has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It features four bays facing southwest, with an internal stack at each end. There is a 19th-century single-storey extension at the right end, which has an internal end stack and is roofed with machine-made red clay tiles. A lean-to shed at the left end is timber framed, weatherboarded, and roofed with red clay 'Rowan' tiles; it now serves as a garage. The structure is one storey with attics and includes four 20th-century casement windows, along with four additional casement windows in lean-to dormers that are slated above and on the sides. There is one 20th-century half-glazed door, one plain boarded door with a shallow hood supported by profiled brackets, and a plain boarded door in the right extension. The building has a gambrel roof, and the left chimney shaft is cement-rendered. The rear elevation is hung with 19th-century red clay tiles, and there is a face-halved and bladed scarf in the rear wallplate. The property also features 20th-century grates.
