Description

This is an 18th-century cottage located on the west side of Church Street, Tollesbury. It was formerly listed as numbers 40 and 42. The cottage is timber-framed and has been clad in weatherboards, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It has three bays facing east, with external chimney stacks at both ends. A full-length outshut extends to the rear, with a catslide roof and a 19th or 20th-century chimney stack in the left rear corner. A single-storey extension is attached to the right, with a further small extension featuring a hipped roof beyond. The cottage is primarily single-storey, with attics. It has two 19th-century sash windows with twelve panes of glass, and two similar sash windows in gabled dormers. A 20th-century door is centrally located. The left return has 20th-century waney weatherboarding.
