Description
25 Market Square is a 17th century timber-framed building that has two sections, with the left section having been largely rebuilt. The right section features a colour-washed roughcast front wall that curves around the bend of the street, topped with an uneven mansard roof covered in machine tiles, which includes two early 19th century box dormers. A narrow red brick chimneystack is located behind the roof ridge. The building has two storeys and attics, with two sash windows on the first floor set in nearly flush moulded frames. The first floor on the right slightly oversails the ground floor, and there is a continuous shop front that has been unobtrusively modernised. The left section has been refronted and heightened in the late 18th or early 19th century, featuring whitewashed roughcast and a Welsh slated roof with a moderate pitch. This section has three storeys and two sash windows in flush moulded frames, along with a 19th century shop front that has been altered. All the listed buildings in Market Square form a group.
