Description
No. 20 Market Square is a 16th-century timber-framed building with two storeys. It features a one-window front facing Market Square and a long south return to Leverton Way with three irregular windows. The building has a T-shaped tiled roof with a moderately high pitch; the front section, which is adjacent to "The Green Dragon" public house, may date from the late 17th century, while the long rear section has a hipped roof at the west end. The walls are currently roughcast, and there is an overhanging first floor along the return. Chamfered and moulded posts at the corners support the upper floor. The front has one renewed sash window on the first floor and an early 20th-century shop front on the ground floor. On the return, there are two renewed casement windows, one sliding sash window, one single door, and one double carriage door. All the listed buildings in Market Square form a group.
