Description

The Green Dragon Public House is an 18th-century front applied to an older, timber-framed building, likely dating from the late 16th century. It is two storeys and an attic, with three windows. The high-pitched tiled roof has a rounded mansard shape and three flat-headed dormers from the early 19th century. The front is brick with a parapet, and features gauged brick arches over recessed sash windows on the first floor. The ground floor has two canted bays with small pilasters, a panelled frieze, and a moulded cornice; all the windows are from the second quarter of the 19th century. The central door has been modernised. At the rear are two long extensions – one gabled and appearing 17th century, the other hipped and from the early 19th century. Cellars are located beneath the building. The building forms part of a group of listed buildings in Market Square.
