Description

No. 36 Bell Street is a 16th-century building that features a heavy timber frame and consists of two bays across two storeys. The building has a plastered jettied gable end facing the street. At the rear, there is a slightly lower two-storey, two-bay timber-framed range that includes an internal gable chimney. The roofs are steeply pitched and covered with old red tiles. The front has panelled pargetting that has been renewed, but the chevron pattern and layout still reflect the earlier design. There is a single 18th-century flush boxed sash window with six-over-six panes, although the sashes have been renewed. The ground floor front has been updated in brick and features a modern bow window.
