Description

This is a late 18th-century building, possibly with a 19th-century brick facade. It comprises a pair of semi-detached houses, designed as mirror images of each other. The roof is gabled and covered with old red tiles. The front of the building is painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern. A large central chimney stack serves both properties. Each house has one window on each floor, and the front doors are positioned near the outer corners. A low, rendered and painted plinth runs along the base of the building. Windows at number 28 and the upper window at number 30 are 18th-century flush boxed sash windows, slightly recessed and with 6-pane glazing. The ground floor windows at number 28 have a slightly cambered soffit and gauged arch. Both doors are topped by small, moulded hoods supported on brackets. Number 28 features a four-panel flush door, while number 30 has a 19th-century half-glazed shop front and a small, pilastered two-light display window above, with moulded caps and bases to the cill. This is complemented by a fascia and moulded cornice on scrolled brackets. The building represents a relatively unaltered example of its type.
