Barns forming NW side of courtyard, 40m NW of stable block, at Ickwell Bury

GV II

Range of barns and other outbuildings. C17, C18 and C19. To NE is earliest structure, a large barn of substantial timber framed construction on red brick plinth, weatherboarded, with clay tile roof. Lower gabled block to N, formerly cart entrance, and lower gabled brick wing to S. Converted C20 for educational purposes, and has casement windows with glazing bars. SW of this is C18 timber framed barn, of 5 bays, with queen strut roof, SE wall rebuilt early C19 in red brick, with 4 sash windows with glazing bars, and cart entrance. Clay tiled roof. SW of this is lower later C19 block in red brick with clay tiled roof. Mullion and transom windows, one part glazed door, one plank door. Projecting from rear of this is late C18 timber framed barn, partly weatherboarded, partly with red brick infill, with clay tile roof. Included for group value.
