Description

The dovecote at Ickwell Bury dates from the 1680s and was built for John Harvey. It is constructed of red brick and features a clay tile roof with an octagonal plan and a pyramidal shape. The roof includes two gabled dormers with wooden latticework, as well as two louvred gables for access, topped with a finial at the apex. On the southeast elevation, there is a small door that still has its original wrought iron strap hinges. Inside, the dovecote retains brick nesting boxes, said to number 968, along with a wooden revolving potence.
