Description

  1. AMERSHAM CHERRY LANE 5134 (north side) Woodrow

Barn range with cartshed wing on north side of yard, Model Farm

SU 9396 9/30 24.7.80

II

  1. A pair of barns under one gable and old tile roof. That to the east has been partly demolished but has an interesting structure, probably C18 for the knapped flint brick dressed walls but more likely C17 for the brickwork of the west party wall. The brickwork frames the flint walls in panels and there are 2 tiers of ventilation slits. Queenstrut roof trusses, the tiebeams springing from apparently older timber corbels. There is an open brick outshot in the north wall with an "aisle" post jowled and braced to tiebeam and purlin. The main barn to the west is timber framed, part brick part weatherboard walls. Apparently of C18 date with queenstrut trusses and jowled posts. Gabled cart entry on north side, full height doors on south side. The cartshed wing to the south is of 3 bays, timber framed, old tiled roof hipped at south end. Open front to east.
