Description

The barn and adjoining stable, located 30 metres north of Bury, date to the 17th century or earlier, with the stable added in the early 18th century. The barn is timber framed with a red brick sill and weatherboarding, topped with a steep half-hipped roof of old red tiles. The timber frame is now exposed on the south face of the barn, overlooking a courtyard, with red brick infill and 20th-century windows. It is a large single-aisled barn, with an aisle running along the north side. Small casement windows are set into the weatherboarding on the north and west gables which face the road. A tall brick stable backs onto the road, extending southwards from the west end of the barn's south front. The stable's facade features red and black chequer brickwork and has a steep roof of old red tiles, facing east into the courtyard.
