Description

Bethel Cottage is a 17th-century house, extended around 1980. It is located south of Dassels House in Braughing. The house is timber-framed with roughcast render and a steeply pitched roof covered in old red tiles. It consists of a single-storey section with an attic and a two-storey crosswing added at the south end. The original part of the house follows a three-unit central-chimney plan facing west. A large central chimney is positioned a third from the south end; a later central chimney is a third from the north end. Two gabled dormers are visible on the roof slope. A roughcast gabled porch is situated centrally at the front, and there is a gabled rear extension. The windows are small-paned and have been replaced.
