Description

Ashburn is a late 17th-century house that has been renovated and extended. A south wing was added in 1984. The house is timber-framed with a red brick sill, plastered over with roughcast, and has a steep roof covered in old red tiles. The 1984 crosswing is roughcast with a dark weatherboarded first floor. It is a small, two-storey house facing east with two windows on each floor. It has external gable chimneys to the front and a central post to the gable. The casement windows have been renewed. An entrance is provided by a single-storey tiled porch on the south side of the crosswing. The interior features exposed timbers, including jowled posts, a mid-height rail, thin studs, long straight tension braces, and a roof with clasped purlins and inclined queen-posts to the central truss.
