Description

No. 17 is a house located on High Street in Pirton, dating from around 1600, with a higher rear wing added in the 19th century. The house features a timber frame on a stuccoed brick sill, with the frame exposed at the front and painted brick infill. The rear wing is roughcast. It has a steeply pitched thatched roof with a decorative ridge on the front range. The building is 1 ½ storeys tall and has a three-cell, internal-chimney, lobby-entry plan. It is set back from the road and faces west, with the rear wing positioned at the northern end and slightly higher. The house has three windows, a central swept dormer at the eaves, and a boarded door aligned with the chimney, located a third of the way from the northern end. The windows are two-light flush lattice-leaded casements.
