Description
This is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with a later 19th-century wing added to the south and a north extension built around 1970. The roughcast exterior contrasts with the yellow brick of the southern wing. The house, set back from the road, faces west and comprises a two-story, two-cell main body and a higher two-story parlor wing to the south. A single-story former bakehouse is attached to the south of the parlor wing, and a gabled porch connects it to the older part of the house. Each section has a three-light casement window on the first floor. A bow oriel window has been inserted into the ground floor of the parlor wing, which has a projecting gable chimney on its south side; the older wing features an internal chimney rebuilt in red brick. Inside, there are axial beams and squared joists. The building is said to have been a coaching inn, formerly known as The Live and Let Live, and later a pub until around 1774.
