Description

This is a house, likely dating back to the 16th century or earlier, with 20th-century extensions to the east end and north rear. It is a timber-frame structure with a black brick sill and roughcast rendering, though the timber frame remains visible in the upper part of the crosswing gable. The roof is covered in red tiles.

The house is arranged in an "L" shape, set back from the road facing south. The main range is one-and-a-half storeys high, representing the original hall, while the crosswing to the east is two storeys high. There's a one-and-a-half-storey rear extension to the crosswing, and an outshut to the east side. The entrance is located at the angle where the wings meet. A large external chimney, dating from the 17th century, is situated on the east side of the crosswing. A smaller external chimney is on the west gable of the hall range. To the left of the plank front door is a three-light flush casement window, protected by a dripboard. Each floor of the gable crosswing has a two-light casement window. The crosswing likely served as the upper end of the original hall, containing two rooms on each floor.

The hall and crosswing feature a clasped purlin roof. The exposed timber frame visible in the crosswing gable shows jowled posts, a tie-beam, and collars supporting the purlins.
