Description
A row of cottages dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located in School Lane, Greenfield. The cottages are timber framed, with walls rendered in pebbledash or colourwashed roughcast. Roofs are generally clay tiled, with corrugated iron on number 28 and a mix of thatch and slate on number 30. The cottages are mostly one storey in height with attics. Numbers 22 to 30 originally formed a continuous row, with a gable end to the right of number 22. Number 20 is a later addition to the right of number 22. There are ten windows on the ground floor, nine gabled dormers, and one window in the attic of number 22’s gable. Most of the windows are casements with glazing bars. The arrangement of the cottages is somewhat irregular. A variety of doors and porches are present, as are brick ridge and gable end chimney stacks.
