Description
Orchard Cottages are two cottages dating from the 17th century, located on the west side of Brook Lane in Upper Dean. They are constructed of colour washed brick and rough cast on a timber frame. Cottage No. 1 features a thatched roof, while Cottage No. 2 has a 20th-century tiled roof. Each cottage consists of two bays and is one storey high with attics, both having a central ridge stack. The cottages are connected by a single-storey block, with the gable end of No. 2 facing the road. The south elevation of No. 1 has two-light horizontal sash windows on the ground floor and a dormer window above. The east gable attic of No. 1 also has a two-light horizontal sash window. Cottage No. 2 features a two-light casement window in the east gable attic and has a 20th-century lean-to extension on the south side.
