Description
Castle Cottages are two houses built in the mid-18th century and raised in the mid-19th century, with some late 20th-century alterations. They are constructed of brick and topped with a tile roof.
No 1, on the left, is two storeys high and features a brick coped verge on the left side, a dog tooth cornice, and a 2-light casement window on the second floor. The ground floor has a 2-light casement window under a segmental head, and the entrance to the left is sheltered by a hipped tile canopy, with a wooden architrave and a 20th-century ledged and boarded door. To the right, there is a single-storey extension with two 2-light casements.
No 2, on the right, is three storeys tall and has a dentilled brick cornice. It features two 8-pane sash windows under segmental heads on the first floor, and two 2-light casements on the second floor. The ground floor mirrors the first floor, with a central entrance that has a moulded wooden architrave, a flat canopy, and a panelled door.
