Description

Nos 239 and 240 on Westbourne Street, which also includes No 34 Kidderminster Road, are two houses with a shop, built in the early 18th century and featuring early 19th century and some mid-20th century alterations. The buildings are constructed of rough-cast brick and topped with a hipped tile roof. They stand two storeys high with an attic that is illuminated by four flat-roofed dormers. A dentilled brick cornice and bands are present at both the ground and first floors.

The front features four windows, all of which are glazing bar sashes. On the ground floor, the left-hand window is a three-light pilastered shop window with a moulded cornice supported by scroll brackets. To the right, there is a glazing bar sash, a two-light casement, and a fixed plate glass casement. The entrance for No 239, located at the left-hand corner, has a plain wooden architrave and a half-glazed door. The entrance for No 240 is roughly central and features a wooden architrave, a flat canopy, and a 20th century panelled door.

On the Kidderminster Road front, there is a glazing bar sash on the first floor. The ground floor has two pilastered shop fronts with a dentilled cornice, with the left shop front wrapping around a canted corner. The entrance between the two shop fronts has a wooden architrave and a half-glazed door.
