Description

Whitneys Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse that has been restored in the mid-20th century and is now used as a house. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill on a sandstone rubble plinth, brick replacement walling, and plain tiled roofs. A large external sandstone chimney is located at the rear right, topped with paired brick star-shaped shafts and a combined cap, along with a group of four star-shaped stacks with a combined cap on the main ridge. The building is designed in an L-shape, with the main range consisting of roughly three framed bays and a single bay wing, along with a south projecting single bay wing that partially overlaps at the southeast end. The farmhouse has two storeys.

The framing mainly consists of four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners and collar-and-tie-beam trusses featuring queen struts and a V-strut in the apex. The right gable end of the main part has diaper studs. On the front elevation, the main part has two 2-light casements and a paired 2-light and 3-light casement, while the first floor features three 3-light casements. The main entrance, located adjacent to the wing, has a moulded flat canopy supported by three shaped brackets and a door with six raised and fielded panels. The gable end of the wing includes a ground and first floor 3-light casement. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a mid-20th century hipped roofed, single storey and attic extension adjoining the left side elevation.
