Description
Milestone Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a steep stone slate roof. The building is one storey high with an attic. The gable wall facing the street has a four-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window beneath a hood, which also covers the doorway located to its right. The attic is illuminated by a rebated and chamfered mullioned window with two segmental-headed lights, and there is a single-light window under the apex. The doorway has a chamfered surround and a canted head. On the right-hand return wall, facing east, there are three windows on the ground floor with plain reveals and two attic dormers. A chimney is positioned towards the centre of the ridge. A photograph from around 1906 shows a window with plain reveals in place of the current doorway, and a door inserted to the left into the remains of a 17th-century mullioned window.
