Description

This is a mid-18th century house, formerly "The Fox" public house, with some earlier remains and 20th-century alterations. It comprises two buildings, numbers 89 and 91, on the south side of High Street in Broadway. The buildings are constructed of limestone rubble with a stone slate roof. Number 91, on the left, has a storey band. It features a canted bay window on a stone base at ground level, with a stone slated canopy that extends over the doorway to its right, and two windows on the first floor with plain reveals. A yard entrance is located to the right of the ground floor, below a first-floor link to number 89, which has a 20th-century casement window with stone slates. Number 89 has two canted bay windows on stone bases on the ground floor and a 20th-century casement window with plain reveals on the first floor. The wall of number 89 is rendered below the eaves, suggesting a possible raising of the roof. The gables have coped ends, and there are chimneys on the left-hand (east) gable and to the right of the yard entrance. The east wall of number 89, facing the yard, features a doorway of 17th-century style, with a chamfered surround and canted head. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
