Description
Orchard Cottage is a house, possibly converted from an agricultural building, dating from around 1700. It features limestone rubble and timber-framing, topped with a thatched roof. The cottage is one storey with an attic. The west wall is framed in two rows of panels, supported by one straight brace to the wall-plate. The framing uses light scantling, and the left-hand post meets the north gable wall, which is made of stone. There are two 20th-century metal casement windows, with the right-hand window positioned under the eaves. A chimney is located on the north gable wall, which has a coping. This wall also includes a window on the left within a blocked doorway, another blocked doorway on the right, and a window with plain reveals that lights the attic. The entrance is through the north wall of a 20th-century flat-roofed extension that adjoins the east wall.
