Description
This is a barn located about 30 yards north of Forest Farmhouse, built in the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th and late 20th centuries. The barn is constructed of brick and features a dentilled eaves cornice and a half-hipped, plain tiled roof. It has eight bays arranged in a north-east to south-west orientation, including wagon bays in the second and sixth bays, which have cart entries that are now partly blocked. The south-east elevation, which faces the farmhouse, includes ventilation slits, several inserted 19th-century casement windows, and an outshut at the left end. Inside, the roof consists of two tiers of purlins and a mix of collar and tie-beam trusses with struts, king-post trusses, and brick partitions. This large barn is a prominent feature of the farmstead.
