Description

Forest Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid-18th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of brick with sandstone dressings and features a plain tiled roof with parapets and kneelers at the gable ends. The building has a long rectangular plan oriented north-west to south-east and includes three large external chimneys with offsets at the rear.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, with an attic that has dormers and a cellar. A sandstone band runs between the storeys, and there is a two-course band at the eaves level, along with a dentilled eaves cornice. The south-west front elevation consists of five bays, with sandstone quoins at either end. The windows are all 19th-century casements with cambered heads; the ground floor features a 4-light window, two 3-light windows, and a 2-light window, while the first floor has three 3-light windows and a blind window. The main entrance, located in the fourth bay, includes an open pediment, entablature, pilastered surround, and a 6-panelled door, two of which are raised and fielded. There is also a 19th-century single-storey addition attached to the first bay. Attic lights are present in the gable ends. The interior has not been inspected, and there are 19th and 20th-century additions at the rear.
