Description
Lane Side Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates from around 1700, with an early 18th-century addition to the rear. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features quoins, a slate roof, stone gable copings with kneelers that have ball finials, and stone gable chimneys. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan and stands two storeys high, with an almost symmetrical appearance. There is a continuous drip band on the first floor that steps over a doorway, which is located to the left of centre and features a large lintel and a modern pitched wooden canopy. The facade includes two windows on each floor, all recessed and currently fitted with three-light casements. The gable walls have altered windows. At the rear, there is a single-bay, two-storey extension with a canopied doorway and altered windows. The interior has been altered with partitions removed but still retains two chamfered beams.
