Description
Ward's o'th' Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an attached granary, likely built in the early 18th century and altered over time. It is constructed of squared sandstone in graduated courses, featuring quoins and a slate roof with two levels, complemented by brick chimneys at the gables of the higher section. The building has a rectangular three-bay plan and stands two storeys tall, although the first bay is lower and has a steeper roof pitch. The entrance is through a plain doorway located in the first bay, next to the junction, with a modern brick lean-to porch added to the second bay of the higher part.
The windows include chamfered mullions, with two-light windows at the first floor of the first bay and two sets of three-light windows at the ground floor of the third bay. The second bay has an altered window at both the ground and first floors. At the rear, the first bay features one formerly-mullioned three-light window on each floor, now replaced with two-light casements, along with a small two-light stairlight window. The higher section has two windows on each floor, with one ground floor window altered and enlarged, while the others are three-light windows with chamfered mullions. The granary, located at the north end and set back, is lower and has stone steps leading to a loft door. Inside, the farmhouse features slim beams with small chamfers and fielded panel doors.
