Description

Hanbury Mount is a house built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and has a slate roof behind a parapet, along with brick chimney stacks at the ridge and ends. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a moulded eaves cornice at the front and a dentilled eaves cornice at the rear. The façade consists of three plus three bays, with the three bays on the left closely spaced.

The windows are adorned with shaped and moulded stone lintels and keyblocks, primarily consisting of twelve-pane sash windows. Notably, the ground floor of the fourth bay and the first floor of the sixth bay have bow windows, with the latter supported by a flat-roofed extension that includes a moulded eaves cornice. The bow window and its flanking lights feature fifteen-pane sashes. The ground floor window of the fifth bay has a lean-to canopy supported on consoles and also contains a fifteen-pane sash. The windows in both floors of the second bay are blind.

The roof includes three skylights, and the attic is illuminated by lunettes at the gable ends. The main entrance is located on the right side, featuring a flat roof and a blocking course, with a half-glazed door and semi-circular headed side lights. The interior has not been inspected. This large house is situated on an elevated site and was once part of the Vernon Estate.
