Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse, remodelled in the mid- to late 19th century, and now used as a house. It is partially timber-framed with brick infill, with areas of replacement walling and weatherboarding on the north gable end; the roof is covered in plain tiles. The farmhouse has a three-bay design, aligned north to south, with a large external chimney on the west elevation of the central bay, and star-shaped stacks at the north ridge and south gable ends. It is a single storey with an attic, featuring dormers and a dentilled eaves cornice. Some of the original timber framing is visible on the rear of the building.

The west front features a 2-light and a 3-light casement window, the latter with a cambered head, along with a square light to the right of the chimney base and a rectangular light to the left. Three dormers are present, each with scalloped bargeboards, moulded finials, and 2-light casements. A gabled timber-framed porch, with cusped bargeboards, a moulded finial, and a half-glazed door with a cambered head, is located to the left of the chimney. The interior of the property was not inspected, but it is likely that more timber framing exists behind the plasterwork. The farmhouse was once part of the Vernon Estate and contributes to the group value of nearby buildings, including a former stable.
