Description
Foster's Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of timber-frame with painted herringbone brick infill set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a tile roof. The building has two framed bays that are aligned east to west, featuring a baffle-entry next to a central stack. The east gable rises two storeys and includes a gable-lit attic, with a tie-beam and a first floor that slightly jetties out, showcasing a 5-light oriel window from the 20th century on each floor. The entrance is located on the south front. The framing displays close-studding with a mid-rail and straight tension braces, and there are elaborately carved consoles supporting the jetties. The gable truss features two collars and V-struts at the apex, while herringbone framing below the lower collar has been removed. The other gable end is very similar in design.
